Background: Peritoneal inclusion cysts (PICs) are rare benign intra-abdominal lesions that predominantly affect women of reproductive age (Ross et al., 1997). Their presentation in pediatric age group, particularly males, is exceptionally uncommon (Almeida, 2010).
Case Presentation: We report a 4-year-old male patient who presented with intermittent abdominal pain. On examination, clinically mild tenderness present in left iliac fossa. On evaluation, CT Abdomen revealed a large cystic lesion suspicious of lymphangioma. Diagnostic laparoscopy and complete excision of the lesion were performed. On histopathological evaluation, diagnosis confirmed to be a peritoneal inclusion cyst.
Conclusion: This case highlights a rare presentation of a PIC in a male child and emphasizes the importance of including this entity in the differential diagnosis of abdominal cystic lesions in children. Laparoscopic intervention serves both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes with excellent outcomes.
